Two electrocuted in Sherpur, Kurigram

Two men were electrocuted in separate incidents in two districts- Sherpur and Kurigram, recently.
NALITABARI, SHERPUR: A worker of local Internet Provider Company was electrocuted in Nalitabari Upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.
The incident took place in Gollarpar area under the upazila at around 12:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 25, son of late Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Haluaghat Upazila.
According to the witnesses, Jahangir came in contact with a live electric wire at noon when he was trying to connect an internet cable. He fell unconscious at that time.
His co-workers rescued him and rushed to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctor Dr Sadia Afrin Seba declared him dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalitabari Police Station (PS) Monirul Alam Bhuiyan confirmed the incident, adding that legal process in this regard is underway.
KURIGRAM: A man was electrocuted in Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram recently.
The deceased was identified as Bablu Mia, 45, a resident of Ramdas Dhaniram Baldipara Village.
Local sources said Bablu climbed up a tree to cut branches of it at around 10 am on Friday. While cutting the branches, he came in contact with live electricity as a branch accidentally fell on a live electric wire.
Hearing his scream, local people rushed there and found him hanging from the tree and informed the Fire Service. Being informed, Fire Service personnel rushed to the scene and recovered the body.
Assistant General Manager of Ulipur Rural Electricity Office Chirendranath Roy said, "If Bablu Mia informed us before cutting the branches of the tree, we could have stopped the transmission line for a while."
Ulipur PS OC Golam Mortuja confirmed the incident, adding that the body was handed over to the deceaseds family members upon their request.
However, an unnatural death was filed with the PS in this regard, the OC added.
