Progress of International Trade Fair slow

Commencement date yet to be fixed

RUPGANJ, NARAYANGANJ, Jan 11: The date of the International Trade Fair-2024 in Rupganj Upazila of the district is yet to be fixed.

The stall raising activities are going on in a slow pace. Already participating businessmen have got their stall allocation. But due to the delay in fixing the date, their stall construction is also going slow.
 
This years ticket prices for adults and children have been increased.

This is the 28th Trade Fair. This fair has been held for the last 27 years in the beginning of new year. But this year it has been delayed despite the second week of January ending.

According to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the fair is likely to start from January 15. For the 3rd time, the fair will be arranged at the permanent venue at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre at Sector No. 4 of Purbachal.

EPB sources said, the fair preparation is going on.

Director of the fair and Secretary of the EPB Bibek Sarkar said, for the 12 National Election and post-poll situation and new government and cabinet formation, the fair date was delayed, and the date will be fixed within one/two days, he added.

He further said, the ticket prices have been fixed at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children. The entry gate lease has been given to Asiatic Society. A total of 12 countries will take part in the fair having about 335 small and big stalls.

There will be special arrangement for children park and communication, he said.

Visitors can come easily to the fair via 300-foot Sheikh Hasina Sarani.

Besides, he added, without facing any suffering, visitors from Gazipur, Vulta-Gawsia can come to the fair.

 There will be good traffic system in different roads.

BRTCs 40-50 buses will provide non-stop services to bring visitors.

The fair will be vibrant and all can enjoy, the EPB official maintained.
