Bangladesh speedster Ebadot Hossain, who had been sidelined for approximately six months, is hopeful to return in action with the ball before the forthcoming T20 World Cup in June this year.

Expressing his optimism, Ebadot told journalists at the Home of Cricket, Mirpur on Saturday, "Hopeful to make a comeback before the World Cup."

Ebadot went out of the field in July 2023 sustaining a knee injury during home series against Afghanistan and went under blade in the following month, which usually takes seven to eight months to recover. He eventually missed a number of following international tournaments including Asia Cup, World Cup, home and away series against New Zealand. He is now in the rehabilitation process.

"Everything is going well. The best thing is, I am getting full support from the BCBs medical team and doing my rehab nicely. Getting back my strength. Hopeful to do something good in the near future," he expressed his optimism.

Regarding his comeback, the 30-year-old pacer emphasized that he is not in a hurry and is content with the ongoing rehabilitation process. He stated, "I am okay with the process I am going through. The measurement of my leg and muscle was taken the day before yesterday, and I recovered well. I think I am getting the fruit of my struggle."

Expressing his sadness about being unable to play while observing his peers in action, Ebadot mentioned, "I am a player, but I can play. My fellow players are participating in matches and bowling. It definitely disappoints me. At times, I became curious to touch the ball and deliver some spells."

Providing an update on his progress, Ebadot stated, "My bowling has not started yet. Ill start running gradually and then begin bowling."
