Rohingya leader hacked to death in Coxs Bazar

COXS BAZAR, Jan 13: A Rohingya leader (majhi) was reportedly hacked to death by miscreants in Ukhiya Upazila of the district on Friday night.
The incident took place at M-27 Block in Camp No. 20 under the upazila at around 8 pm.
The deceased was identified as Karim Ullah, 37, son of late Ganu Mia, a resident of the camp. He was a leader of the camp community.
Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station Md Shamim Hossain said a group of miscreants dragged him out of his house and fled away after slitting his throat.
Locals rescued him and took to a nearby hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared Karim Ullah dead.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Coxs Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.
