A father and his son were killed in a road accident at Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram district on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 48, his son of Biplob, 25, both residents of Sarkartari village under Kochakata union under Nageshwari upazila of the district.
According to locals, Shahidul Islam along with his son were returning home from Bhurungamari riding on a bike. On the way, they rammed into a shallow-engine run three wheeler (nosimon) amid dense fog at Pateshwari area in the upazila, leaving Shahidul dead on the spot and Biplob critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took to Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon their arrival.
Bhurungamari Police Station officer-in-charge Ruhul Amin confirmed the death matter, adding that they have assumed that the accident might have occurred due to the dense fog.
