Pickup kills school teacher in Netrokona

A school teacher was killed after being hit by a pickup van at Netrokona district town on Saturday night.

The accident took place at around 8pm in front of Anjuman Government High School at Moktarpara area in the town.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Goni, 58, an assistant teacher of Nischintapur Government Primary School.

According to witnesses, a speeding Mymensingh-bound pickup van ran over the teacher at Mechua bazaar area in the city when he was crossing a road, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and took to Netrokona Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Netrokona Model Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Abuk Kalam said being informed, police seized the truck from the spot, however, its driver managed to flee the scene.

Legal actions were underway in this regard added the OC.
