Cold-hit people get blankets in six districts

Blankets were distributed among the cold-hit poor people in six districts- Narayanganj, Kushtia, Jhenidah, Dinajpur, Panchagarh and Mymensingh, recently.
NARAYANGANJ: Blankets have been distributed among the winter-stricken people in Sonargaon Upazila of the district on Sunday.
These winter clothes were distributed in the afternoon among the helpless people through the chairmen of various union parishads (UPs) and Awami League (AL) leaders at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Abdullah-Al-Kaisar, MP, from Narayanganj-3 Constituency, was present as the chief guest and distributed these blankets among the 3,500 needy people.
Sonargaon Upazila Parishad Chairman Advocate Samsul Islam Bhuiyan presided over the programme.
Sonargaon Upazila AL Senior Vice-President Engineer Masudur Rahman Masum, Sonargaon Upazila Parishad Woman Vice-Chairman Mahmuda Akter Fancy, UP Chairmen Abdur Rashid Mollah, Arif Masud Babu and Zahid Hasan Jinnah, AL Joint Secretary Ashrafuzzaman, Sonargaon Upazila Juba League President Rafiqul Islam Nannu, General Secretary Ali Haider, Sonargaon Upazila Primary Education Officer Daulatar Rahman, Upazila Chhatra League President Rashedul Islam Rasel, and Shafiqul Islam Sagar, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
Later on, after the distribution of blankets, a discussion was held to improve the quality of education under the initiative of Sonargaon Upazila Primary Teachers Association.
Shafiqul Islam, president of Sonargaon Upazila Primary Teachers Association, presided over the meeting where teachers of various primary schools of Sonargaon were present.
DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: Blankets were distributed among the cold-hit dwellers of Ashrayan Prakalpa in Daulatpur Upazila of the district on Sunday.
Daulatpur Upazila administration organized the programme.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Obaidullah handed over these blankets to the needy people.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) Md Shahidul Islam and PIO Md Abdul Hannan, among others, were also present during the distribution.  
JHENIDAH:  Blankets were given to 5,000 cold-hit people in Sadar Upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.
As the chief guest MP (Jhenaidah 2) Naser Shahriar Zahedi Mahul handed over these blankets at a function held at Jhenaidah Municipal Park.
Municipal Mayor Qayyum Shahriar Zahedi Mahul, and Coordinator of Zahedee Foundation Tabibur Rahman Labu were present.
Hailing from Baparipara of Jhenaidah Municipal Kashem, 70, expressed his deep gratitude to Zahedee Foundation after receiving a blanket. "I asked many people to give me a blanket but they turned a deaf ear."
Naser Shahriar Zahedi Mohul, MP, said, there will be no terrorism, extortionists and drug dealers in Jhenaidah. Wherever these three evil forces exist, they will be resisted and suppressed, he added.
He further said, this city will be built in a new way.
KAHAROLE, DINAJPUR: Winter clothes were distributed among the cold-hit destitute people of six unions in Kaharole Upazila of the district on Friday.
Upazila administration organized the distribution programme on the Upazila Parishad Field in the       afternoon.
Kaharole UNO Md Aminul Islam handed over 250 blankets to the helpless people at that time.
Upazila Secondary School Teachers Association President Md Mahbubur Rahman, Bulia Bazar Girls High School Head Teacher Nirmal Kumar Roy, Journalist Abdul Jalil Shah, Sohag, Sukumar Roy, and teacher Mansur Rahman, among others, were also present at the programme.
PANCHAGARH: ANM Wahiduzzaman, president of the 85th batch of Economics Department at Dhaka University association and its member Md Shahidul Islam distributed blankets among 600 people in Sadar and Tentulia upazilas of the district with the help of the district administration.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Md Riaz Uddin, attended the blanket distribution programme in Satmera Union of Sadar Upazila on Friday afternoon.
Panchagarh Sadar UNO Zakir Hossain, Negarat Deputy Collector Farhad Ahmed, and Satmera UP Chairman Rabiul Islam Rabi, among others, were also present at the programme.
More than 300 blankets were distributed there and in the afternoon, 300 more blankets were given to the needy people in Tentulia Upazila.  
MYMENSINGH: Blankets were distributed among 4,000 helpless people of Palpara, New Town and Bihari camps of the city on Wednesday under the initiative of Mymensingh City Corporation MCC).
MCC Chief Executive Officer Md Yusuf Ali, Panel Mayor-3 Samima Akhter, Chief Warehouse and Purchase Officer Md Bulbul Ahmed, and Public Relations Officer Sheikh Mahabul Hossain Rajib, among others, were also present during the distribution.
MCC Chief Executive Officer Md Yusuf Ali said, according to the instructions of the Honourable Prime Minister, the Honourable Mayor Md Ikramul Haque Titu has given instructions to distribute blankets among the helpless people. This programme of the MCC will continue for the sake of the needy people.
