Man beaten to death over land dispute in Kurigram

A man was beaten to death reportedly by his rivals over a land dispute in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram on Saturday.

Police, however, arrested two people in this connection.

The deceased Nur Hossain,58, a resident of Maltibari village under Dharnibari union of the upazila, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ulipur Police Stations Md Golam Mostafa.
He said that there had long been a dispute between the victim Nur and his neighbour Jafar over the ownership of a piece of land in the village.

Over the issue, both the groups with locally-made weapons locked into clashes at noon, leaving Nur dead on the spot, he said.

Meanwhile, being informed police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Sadar general hospital morgue for autopsy, said the official.

A legal procedure is underway in connection of the incedent, he added.
