BGMEA for branding BD to propel country forward

President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan has underscored for the need for branding Bangladesh as an attracting investments destination to solidify the countrys position in the global stage.

Speaking at a business seminar, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Faruque Hassan said only successful branding the nation could propel the country forward to prosperity and growth.
State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam (Titu) MP was chief guest on the occasion, said a press release.

Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior commerce secretary; A. H. M. Ahsan, Vice Chairman of EPB; and Abdul Muktadir, Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceuticals Industries also addressed the event titled "Branding Bangladesh" held at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Dhaka on Tuesday.
 
Faruque said Bangladesh has proudly secured its position as the second-largest apparel exporting country globally when garments from the country reaching over 160 countries.

He emphasized the need for strengthening this country position through effective branding of the nation, saying it is time for Bangladesh to be recognized not just as a manufacturer but also as a brand of its own.

Removing misconceptions and biased views spread by a vested quarter about the countrys RMG industry as a top priority, Faruque Hassan said "Our focus on apparel diplomacy includes efforts to tell the positive story of our industry and its transformation."

He further said, "We have taken initiatives such as the first-ever Made in Bangladesh Week in 2022 and Bangladesh Apparel Summit in Melbourne last year to showcase the positive developments of our industry along with its strengths."

The BGMEA President urged all to play roles in their respective capacity in sharing untold stories of the countrys achievements to enhance the global perception of Bangladesh.

He said renewing the global position requires a concerted effort in portraying the true image of the nation and its industries, including the RMG sector.

Ambassadors from different countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Indonesia, were present in the event.
