Two killed as train rams three wheeler in Rajshahi


Two people were killed after a train rammed a three wheeler (nosimon) at Paba upazila in Rajshahi district on Monday afternoon.

The incident took place around 4pm on the Mohanpur rail-crossing in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as the three wheeler driver Md Mofa, 37, and its helper Habib, son of Md Hanif, a resident of Kamar Dhadhas area under Putiya upazila in the district.
According to witnesses, the Padma Express Train was heading towards Dhaka from Rajshahi Railway Station. On the way, the train rammed the woods-laden three wheeler (nosimon) when it came into the middle of rail track, leaving duo dead on the spot.

Rajshahi Fire Service Station Deputy Director Akter Hamid Khan confirmed the information, adding that on information, firefighters recovered the bodies from the spot and handed over to the concerned Government Railway Police.

Gopal Karmaker, officer-in-charge of Rajshahi Railway Police Station, said they were going to the spot and legal action was underway in this regard.
