NATORE, Feb 13: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) in the district fined eight pharmacies Tk 1,33,000 on charge of selling date-expired medicines and sample medicines to customers.
Md Mehedi Hassan Tanvir, assistant director of DNCRP, made the fine in a day-long special drive at Gopalpur Market in Lalpur Upazila of the district.
He said, a team of DNCRP led by him conducted the drive in different medicine stores in that market to check irregularities in medicine businesses.
Later on, they fined these eight medicine stores. The fined money was realised from them in cash on spot.
He further said, they distributed leaflets to local people about health awareness and alert while buying medicines from pharmacies.
A police team of Lalpur Police Station cooperated him in the operation, he added.
Fined drug shops are Messers Bhai Bhai Pharmacy, Jamil Pharmacy, Medi-Farma, Khondoker Pharmacy, Ma-medicine store, Messers Rassel Pharmacy, Khan Medical Store and Shamim Pharmacy.
