Nazmul Hasan Naeem, 39, who was awarded with capital punishment for murdering a student in Pirojpur in 2013, was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from the Cantonment Police Station area of the capital around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
Naeem is the son of M. Shafiqul Alam Hawlader, a resident of Indurkani Police Station in Pirojpur district.
Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-2 Shihab Karim confirmed the matter to BSS today saying that he was arrested during a secret drive conducted by the RAB-2 officials.
According to the case, Sadman Sakib Prince, 14, a student of class 10 at Pirojpur Government Technical School and College, was killed during a fight regarded to playing cricket. His body was thrown into a pond.
Being informed by locals, police recovered his body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.
Two days after the incident, victims father filed a murder case against some unidentified accused with Pirojpur Sadar Police Station.
In 2013, the court issued an arrest warrant against Naeem after sentencing him to death and imposing a fine of Taka 50 thousand. —BSS
