DoE director, wife die after they fall ill

A director (Dhaka region) of Department of Environment (DoE) and his wife died after they suddenly fell ill at government officers complex at Mirpur-2 in the capital.

The deceased were director Syed Nazmul Ahsan, 58, and his wife Nahid Binte Alam, 47.

Md Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station, said both fell ill at government officers complex at Mirpur-2 in the capital on Wednesday.
Nazmul was admitted to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where he died around 5:30 pm on Wednesday, while his wife Nahid was admitted to the intensive care unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

She died at the hospital on Thursday morning, he said.

The official said police have sent the bodies to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The detailed and the reason behind the deaths could be informed after getting the autopsy reports. 

The couple left behind two daughters. One them is 2 years old and another is 15 years.

He said police will investigate the matter if their family filed complaint in this regard.
