Capital experiences drizzles

The trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area and the seasonal low lies over South Bay, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Under the impact of the low, many parts of the country including the capital on Thursday experienced light rains.

Several areas of the capital including Panthapath, Paltan, Mirpur and Motijheel experienced drizzles since Thursday afternoon which continued till evening.

Though it was drizzling since the morning, heavy rain started at around 4:30pm in the capital  suddenly causing sufferings to pedestrians and working people who were returning homes after office.

Most of the pedestrians were running to shelter, wherever they could it.

But, it gave relief from the city polluted air.

The drizzles improved the air quality a bit.

According to the forecast of the Met office, rainfall or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rangpur and Barishal divisions.

It also forecast that the rains may continue for the next three days till Saturday. On Saturday, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky over the country.

In the last 24 hours till 6pm on Thursday,  16mm of rainfall was recorded in the capital ty while the countrys highest rainfall 23mm was recorded in Noakhalis Hatia.

Apart from this, 22 mm of rainfall was recorded in Sylhet, 20mm in Srimangal, 18mm in Kishorganjs Nikli, 15mm in Barishal, 12mm in Madaripur and Mymensingh, 11mm in Mongla, 8mm in Netrokona, 7mm in Chandpur and Sirajganjs Tarash, 4mm in Kurigrams Rajarhat, 3mm in Bhola and Rajarhat, 2mm in Feni, Nilphamaris Dimla, Rangpur, Jessore, Chuadanga, and Dinajpur.

Apart from this, Dhaka, Gopalganj, Saidpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet districts received little rain, according to the Meteorological Office.

According to the Meteorological Department, the extension of western low pressure is located in West Bengal and the surrounding areas. Seasonal normal low pressure is located over South Bay of Bengal.

In the forecast for the next 24 hours, it is said that there may be rains with gusty wind or thunder in some places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and two places in each of Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

The night temperature of Chittagong division may increase by (1-2) Celsius. Besides, it may decrease slightly in other parts of the country.

According to Fridays forecast, two places in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may experience rains with gusty winds or rains with lighning. Besides, the weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies in other parts of the country.

The forecast for Saturday says that two places in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions may experience rains with gusty winds or rains with lightning. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies.
