The deceased was identified as Abdul Qaiyum, 45, son of Abdul Majid of the area.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Moglabazar PS Harun Or Rashid said Qaiyum had a loggerhead with his rivals over a piece of a land for long. The crime might have occurred following the land dispute.

Several injury marks were found in different parts of the body of Qaiyum, said the OC.

LALMONITHAT: A housewife died after her husband reportedly hit her in Kaliganj Upazila of the district.

Kaliganj PS OC Imtiaz Kabir said Tahmima died on Thursday evening while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

A murder case was filed in this connection on Friday, said the OC adding that Alamgir remained absconding after the incident.
