Road communications disrupted in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, Mar 10:  Road communications have been disrupted in all 11 routes due to pontoon and gangway of ferry services badly damaged on Saturday at Charkhali point of the River Kancha in the district.
The ferry service from Tagra in Indurkani Upaazila to Charkhali of Bhaadaria Upazila in the district became fully stopped.  
Executive Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Tanvir Ahmed said, a goods carrier ship Boleswar-1 hit the pontoon and gangway on Saturday morning.  
Front part of the pontoon got broken while the gangway collapsed   partly.  
Considering situation, the ferry services were suspended, and the road communications in the southern part were stopped on all 11 routes, he added.
"We are repairing these. The ferry services will resume in a short time," the official added.
