Asadujjaman Alam Khan Tapu and Sohel Haider Chowdhury were elected as President of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) each of the bagging 812 votes in DUJ election held at National Press Club on Monday.
As the office of President is for two years, each of Tapu and Sohel will serve for one year as President of DUJ.
Head of the Election Management Committee of DUJ, UNB Editor Farid Hossain, announced the results at National Press Club auditorium.
Akhtar Hossain has been elected as General Secretary of DUJ for the second consecutive term.
Akhtar Hossain bagged 637 votes and his closest contestant Jihadur Rahman Jihad got 593 votes.
Md Shahjahan Mia was elected as Joint Secretary polling 514.
Contesting for the post Asaduzzaman got 512 votes.
Voting began at 9 AM on Monday at the auditorium of the National Press Club and ended at 5:30 PM without any break.
Nazrul Islam Mithu was elected as senior vice president by getting 741 votes, Ibrahim Khalil Khokon was elected as vice president getting 523 votes, Soheli Chowdhury became the treasurer getting 550 votes, Golam Mujtaba Dhruba became organising secretary getting 947 votes, Asadur Rahman was elected legal affairs secretary getting 876 votes.
