35 burnt in Gazipur cylinder explosion

At least 35 people were burnt after a gas cylinder exploded at Konabari of Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at around 5:45pm at the house of one Shafik Khan in Telirchala area in Kaliakoir.
According to the locals, Shafik brought a gas cylinder. When he tried to connect the cylinder to the oven, gas started leaking. Later, he threw the cylinder onto the nearby road. There was an earthen oven near the cylinder and the fire had originated from the oven that instantly led to the explosion of the cylinder. At least 35 people were injured in the incident.

Locals rescued them and took them to local hospital but as their condition deteriorated the injured were taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost said.

Hearing the information, Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen rushed to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery to see the critically injured burnt patients.
