Police arrested three people for trying to sell counterfeit dollar to a rice trader in Sreepur area in Ashulia on Saturday night.
The arrestees were Mohammad Ali, 55, Mojibor Rahman, 35, and Sanwar Hossain, 40.
The counterfeit dollarswere seized from them. They had also put white papers in the middle of the bundles.
Ashulia police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sheikh Md Masud Al Mamun said the rice trader, Khorshed knew Mohammad Ali for a long time. Khorshed became suspicious when Ali offered to sell dollars at a reduced rate and informed the police.
Police later arrested three members of the gang with counterfeit dollars, consisting of $5 and $10 notes, when they tried to sell it.
The trader later filed a case against them.
