Deepak Kumar Acharjee, the editor and publisher of The South Asian Times, was honoured for his literary contributions at a ceremony hosted by the publishing house Abisker on Monday. The event took place at the National Press Club with the presence of a number of journalists and contemporary writers.
Editor of the Daily Peoples Life, Azizul Islam Bhuiya, who is also a freedom fighter, presented a crest to Deepak Kumar Acharjee.
Abishker honored a total of 32 journalists and writers for their books published by the publishing house.
The owner of Abisker, SD Delwar Hasan, conducted the program, during which poet and joint editor of the daily Prothom Alo, Sohrab Hasan, and poet and singer Aparna Khan spoke. Journalist and writer Asaduzzaman Samrat, poet and journalist Abdul Mannan, poet Rafiq Hasan, journalist Muhammad Akbar, journalist and writer Kudrat e Khoda, journalist and writer Taskina Yasmin, and journalist and writer Puspita Acharjee were also felicitated as writers.
