Three people including an elderly man were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in three districts - Noakhali, Gaibandha and Kishoreganj, on Thursday.
NOAKHALI: A young man was killed as his motorcycle was hit by a truck in Chatkhil Upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The accident took place in Bhimpur area on the Dhaka-Chatkhil regional highway of the upazila at around 9 pm.
The deceased was identified as Arif Hossain, 20, son of Mohammad Ali, hailed from Hirapur Village in the upazila.
Police and local sources said a truck hit him in Bhimpur area at night while he was going home riding on a motorcycle. He died on the spot.
Being informed, police visited the scene.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatkhil Police Station (PS) Mohammad Emdadul Haque confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed with the PS and necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
GAIBANDHA: A septuagenarian was killed after being crushed by a truck in Sundarganj Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The accident took place in Khamar Panchgachi area of the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Kobir Hossain, 70, a resident of Moradah Village in the upazila.
Police and local sources said a truck ran over Kobir Hossain in Khamar Panchgachi area in the morning while he was going to Sovaganj Bazar from the house on feet, which left him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene.
Sundarganj PS OC Md Mahbub Alam confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
KISHOREGANJ: A man was killed and two others were injured after being run over by a truck in Pakundia Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The accident took place in Marura area under the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Ripon Mia, 45, hailed from Nandail Upazila in Mymensingh District.
According to police and local sources, in the morning, three persons including Ripon were returning to their village in Nandail Upazila of Mymensingh from Gazipur riding on a motorcycle. On the way, a cargo truck hit their motorcycle when they reached Marura area of Pakundia Upazila.
Ripon died on the spot and two others were injured at that time.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
The injured were rescued and taken to hospital.
Pakundia PS OC Asaduzzaman Titu confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this connection.
