Construction worker killed, 3 injured in Malibagh landslide


A worker was killed and three others were injured when heavy construction machinery fell on them due to a landslide near Malibagh Railgate area on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as a crane operator Nur Nabi Nayem, a resident of Yakubnagar village under Sitakundu upazila of Chattogram district. He was a tenant of Dhaka's Ashulia.
The incident happened around 5pm on Sunday when they were working underground in an under-construction multi-storey market which left four workers injured, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost.

On information, firemen from Khilgaon Fire Station rescued a person and brought him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 6:30pm, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead on arrival, he said.

Co-workers also brought Ziarul, 20, excavator operator Ratul Pramanik,18, and Sadekul, 22. They are now undergoing treatment at the hospital, added the police official Bachhu Mia.
