Road mishaps claim three lives in three districts

Three people including a minor child were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in three districts - Sherpur, Chandpur and Thakurgaon, in two days.
SHERPUR: A minor girl was killed after being hit by a battery-run easy-bike in Nakla Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Tania, 5, daughter of Abdul Kuddus, a resident of Narayonkola area in the upazila.
Local sources said a Narayonkhola-bound easy-bike hit Tania when she was playing on a road along with other children in front of her house in the afternoon, which left her critically injured.
Locals then rescued the injured and took her to Nakla Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the child dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
However, the law enforcers have seized the easy-bike but its driver managed to flee the scene.
Abdul Kader Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nakla Police Station (PS), confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
CHANDPUR: A Saudi Arabia expatriate was killed and two others were injured when a microbus collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Matlab Uttar Upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, son of late Sahid Ullah Pradhan, a resident of Fatehpur Pashchim Union in the upazila.
The injured persons are: Mofizul Islam, 30, and Md Ali Akbar, 55.
Quoting locals, Matlab Uttar PS OC Mohammad Shahid Hossain said the accident occurred when a Chandpur-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a microbus in the afternoon, which left Saudi Arabia expatriate Nurul Islam dead on the spot and two others injured.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
The injured were rescued and taken to Chandpur Sadar General Hospital.
However, the law enforcers have seized the microbus but its driver managed to flee the scene.
Legal action would be taken in this regard, the OC added.
THAKURGAON: The driver of an auto-van was killed after being hit by a private car in Pirganj Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The accident took place at noon in front of the shop of one Quddus in Bhemtia Village under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Belal Hossain, 35, son of Yusuf Ali, a resident of Birhali Village in the upazila. He was an auto-van driver by profession.
Police and local sources said Belal Hossain was carrying cement on his auto-van at noon. On the way, a private car owned by former union parishad chairman Arifur Rahman hit the auto-van from behind in front of the shop of one Quddus in Bhemtia area, leaving Belal dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Pirganj PS OC Khairul Anam confirmed the incident, adding that the body was handed over to the deceaseds family in the evening and an unnatural death case was filed with the PS in this regard.
