Road mishaps claim three lives in three districts

Three people including a child were killed in separate road accidents in three districts - Sunamganj, Kushtia and Sherpur, in two days.
SUNAMGANJ: A minor boy was killed after being hit by a truck in Dowarabazar Upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ramim, son of Amir Uddin, a resident of Mohabbatpur Bazar area in the upazila.
Quoting locals, police said a truck ran him over when Rahim was playing in front of his house near the road, which left him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
Meanwhile, locals detained the truck driver and handed him over to police.
Badrul Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dowarabazar Police Station (PS), confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
KUSHTIA: A teenage boy was killed after his bicycle collided with a trolley in the district town on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Harishankarpur area of the town in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Ali, 14, a seventh grader of Saota High School in Kumarkhali Upazila of the district.
Police and local sources said that the student heading towards the district town riding on his bicycle during the rush hour. On the way, the bicycle collided head on with a trolley in Harishankarpur area, which caused him to crush under the vehicle. Ali died on   the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Kushtia Model PS OC Sheikh Sohel Rana confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
NALITABARI, SHERPUR: A young man was killed in a road accident in Nalitabari Upazila of the district on Monday morning.
The accident took place in Naljora Bazar area on the Nalitabari-Sherpur highway under the upazila at around 10:15 am.
The deceased was identified as Mostafizur Rahman, 27, son of Jaman Sarker, hailed from Kamaria Village under Tarakanda Upazila in Mymensingh District. He worked as a credit officer of Pragati Project at Tinani Branch of Brac.
Police and local sources said Mostafizur was coming to Nalitabari Town in the morning riding on a motorcycle. On the way, the motorcycle fell on the road after losing its control over the steering in Naljora Bazar area while trying to save a bicyclist. At that time, a tractor crushed Mostafizur, leaving him seriously injured.
Locals then rescued the injured and rushed him to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the youth dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
However, the deceaseds elder sister Jikunnahar lodged a case with Nalitabari PS being the plaintiff in this regard.
Nalitabari PS OC Monirul Alam Bhuiyan confirmed the incident.
