Man stabbed dead by brother-in-law in Sylhet

A young man was stabbed to death by his brother-in-law during an arbitration meeting over family feud in Sylhet's Fenchuganj upazila on Tuesday.

The incident took place at night at Baghmara village in the upazila.

The victim was Monai Mia, 35, son of Burkan Ali, hailed from of Ghilachhara union.

According to locals, an arbitration meeting was arranged at the house of Monai over settling the family feud between his sister-in-law and her ex husband Kalam Mia of the village around 8 pm.

At one stage, Belai Mia, brother of Kalam, stabbed Monai with a knife and fled the scene, leaving him injured.

Later, he was rushed to Fenchuganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
