97 percent of BUET students vote against campus politics: Online poll

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students protesting to ban student politics on campus, conducted an online survey among nearly 6,000 students which showed that 97 percent of students are against of student politics on campus.

The agitating students presented the information in a press conference in front of the university's registrar building at around 7 pm on Wednesday.
At the press conference, the students said that they conducted the opinion survey for two-days using their respective institutional e-mails on online. As many as 5, 834 people participated in the survey which showed that 5, 683 students voted against student politics. In other words, 97 percent of the students are against the student politics in the campus.

Earlier finding no other way, general students of Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) have sent an open letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking her intervention for a student politics free campus.

The open letter said, "Honourable prime minister, it is our earnest appeal to you. Implement the dream the greatest Bangalee of all time had dreamt about Buet. (Implement) the policy he adopted. Keep BUET out of student politics, even if that requires law reform. Because laws are created for the sake of justice."

"We request you, please come and visit our campus. We want to show you the ideal campus an apolitical BUET has become for students over the past few years. We promise you, we will overtake the world's leading universities in technology very soon," it added.
