14 houses, 15 shops burnt in three districts

At least 14 houses and 15 shops were gutted by fire in separate incidents in three districts - Chandpur, Bogura and Pabna, in two days.

CHANDPUR: At least 11 houses of eight families were burnt to ashes in Haziganj Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The incident took place in Sendra Village under Barakul Purba Union of the upazila in the afternoon.
According to locals, the fire originated from the kitchen of one Zakir Hossain at around 3:30 pm. Then the fire instantly spread around.

On information, Haziganj Fire Service personnel reached the scene and brought the fire under control with the help of locals.
At that time, 11 small and big houses including living rooms, furniture, cash money, gold ornaments and necessary documents were burnt.

The victims claimed that there was a loss of around Tk 30 lakh due to the fire.
 
Local Union Parishad Chairman Mojibur Rahman Mojib visited the scene and provided assistance to the affected families.

BOGURA: At least 15 shops were gutted by fire that broke out at Shapla Super Market in the district town on Sunday morning.

Nine units of Fire Service brought the fire under control in a two-hour effort.

At that time, a member of the fire service was injured while putting out the fire. He has been admitted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

Shapla Market has press, computer, garments and sewing machine shops. The affected businessmen claimed that there has been a loss of about Tk 1.5 crore.

Bogura Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Director Manjil Haque said, "At 7:55 am, we received the information of the fire at the market.

Being informed, five units of Sadar, two units from Kahaloo and two units from Shahjahanpur rushed there to douse the fire. Them it was brought under control after about two hours of efforts. Meanwhile, 15 shops were fully burnt."

How the fire started and how much damage was done cannot be said without an investigation, he added.

SANTHIA, PABNA: Three houses were burnt in Santhia Upazila of the district on Saturday.

The incident took place in Joragachha Village under Nandanpur Union of the upazila just before Iftar.

Locals said that the fire originated from the stove in the kitchen. Instantly, the flames spread to the houses of Abdus Salam and his sons. Then it was brought under control by the efforts of local residents and a unit of Santhia Fire Service.
