Curb misogyny  from our society

Dear Sir

Discriminating against women seems to be an ancient practice particularly in Muslim countries. This evil exists despite a supreme status guaranteed to women by Islam. Even when it is apparent that a woman is the second wheel of cycle which plays its role to balance the economy, our society still seems in denial.

Gender discrimination is a critical issue to be completely eradicated from Bangladesh. We should start realising that the collective contribution of men and women supports the country to use the idle resources and enhance the economic growth. We need to use their talent and ability in public places. Their contribution should not be limited to fields of education and heath, but circumscribe all sectors of the economy. Only then can we achieve a steeper economic growth.

Also, to promote womens participation and to strengthen their roles, equal social political and economic opportunities should be created. Thus, the concerned authorities ought to make positive initiatives to protect the rights of women as well as to shun the concept of gender discrimination and inequality in Bangladesh.
