40 shanties gutted in Chattogram fire

At least 40 tin-shed houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at AC Mosque Road slum in Halishahar area of Chattogram port city on Tuesday night.

Udayan Chakma, station officer of Agrabad Fire Service, said the fire broke out at the slum around 9:30 pm and engulfed it soon.

On Information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 11:10 pm, UNB reports.

Primarily it is suspected that the fire originated from an electric short circuit.

However, no casualty was reported and the extent of the losses caused by the fire could not be ascertained yet.
