Trade through land ports resumes

The export and import activities between India and Bangladesh through Hili Land Port and Nakugaon Land Port resumed on Monday morning after a six-day holiday.
HAKIMPUR, DINAJPUR: Earlier, the import-export activities through the Hili port remained suspended from April 9 to 14 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Bangla New Year.

However, the movement of passengers with passports between Bangladesh and India through Hili immigration check-post was normal.

Hili Land Port Import and Export Group General Secretary Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the news.

Hili Immigration Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Ashraful Islam said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Pahela Baishakh, although the import and export through Hili Land Port was closed, the movement of passport holders between Bangladesh and India was normal through the immigration check-post.

NALITABARI, SHERPUR: After a six-day holiday, the import and export activities started at Nakugaon Land Port in the districts Nalitabari Upazila on Monday.

The port authority confirmed this information in the morning.

Nakugaon Land Port was closed for six days from April 9 to April 14 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Bengali New Year 1431. After a long holiday, all activities started again at this port from Monday.

However, even though the activities were closed for six consecutive days, the travel of passport holders was normal. Passengers entered India through Nakugaon immigration check-post and Indians came to Bangladesh.

Nakugaon Land Port Import Exporters Association President Mostafizur Rahman Mukul said that all activities including loading and unloading resumed at this port from Monday. Trucks full of stones have started arriving from Bhutan. Apart from this, the port has become bustling with daily workers who are engaged in the work of breaking stones.
