Child drowns in Brahmaputra while taking bath with family

A child drowned while taking bath with his family in the Brahmaputra river at Langalband in Narayanganj district on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 10 am at Annapurna Ghat No-4 of the Brahmaputra river on the second day of a religious bathing festival.
The deceased was Rajdeeip, son of Ujjal Das, hailed from Budhura Bell Mine village under Patiya police station in Chattogram.

According to police, the child went to a religious bathing festival with his mother, grandmother and sister in the river in the morning. At that time, he went missing after diving into the water. When the fire service was informed about his disappearance, they rescued Rajdeep in an unconscious state at around10:30 am.

Later, he was taken to Bandar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

Additional Superintendent of Police Zahirul Islam confirmed it and said that the body has been handed over to the family in view of the request of the parents of the child.
