Nine more members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were arrested during coordinated operations led by the Bangladesh Army in various areas of Ruma upazila in Bandarban on Tuesday.
The joint force also recovered nine firearms and ammunition from their possessions, Inter-Services Public Relations said in a press release on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Army, Rapid Action Battalion, Bangladesh Police, and Bangladesh Border Guard launched a joint operation to eliminate the KNF from Bandarban.
Earlier, the court sent 57 Kuki-Chin members and 58 people to prison after their arrest during a joint operation. They have been accused of bank robbery, mosque attacks, and the snatching of weapons and money in Ruma and Thanchi. A total of 62 people have been sent to jail so far in this incident.
KNF militants hit several bank branches in Ruma and Thanchi on April 2 and 3 respectively. They looted money, firearms and abducted Sonali Bank Manager Nezam Uddin. However, RAB rescued him on April 4.
Five cases were registered in Bandarbans Ruma Police Station and three in Thanchi Police Station in connection with the attacks.
KNF is a secessionist group that has been largely active in Bandarban Hill district. It has claimed responsibility for a number of deadly attacks in the region.
