Country's both the bourses--
Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and
Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE)-- on Wednesday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 10.81 points or 0.18 percent to 5,763.77. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 5.37 points to finish at 2,007.34 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.65 point to close at 1,262.42, BSS reports.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 4,825.33 million which was Taka 5,402.39 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 395 issues traded, 222 declined, 106 advanced and 67 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
ASIATICLAB topped the turnover chart, followed by LOVELLO, GOLDENSON, FUWANGFOOD and FUWANGCER.
COPPERTECH was the day's top gainer, posting 9.82 percent gain while LRGLOBMF1 was the worst loser, losing 6.12 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 78.59 points to settle at 16,459.54 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX- shedding 47.55 points to close at 9,897.73.
Of the issues traded, 106 declined, 70 advanced and 27 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 30.95 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 11.86 crore.
