Livestock Services Week begins in upazilas

The Livestock Services Week and Exhibition-2024 began in Sadullapur Upazila of Gaibandha, Daudkandi Upazila of Cumilla, Sreemangal Upazila of Moulvibazar, Kaharole Upazila of Dinajpur and Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday like elsewhere in the country.

This years theme of the Week is - "Prani sompode bhorbo desh, Gorbo Smart Bangladesh."

GAIBANDHA: To mark the Week, Sadullapur Upazila Livestock office and Upazila Veterinary Hospital organized different programmes in cooperation with Livestock and Dairy Development Project under the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry.

In the morning around 11 am, a discussion meeting and prize distribution function was also held on Upazila Veterinary Hospital premises with Sadullapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kawsar Habib in the chair.

Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Sirajul Islam, Upazila Agriculture Officer Matiul Alam, and Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) Md Asaduzzaman addressed the function as focal persons.

The function was also addressed, among others, by President of Upazila Awami League (AL) Abdul Jalil Sarker, journalist Tajul Islam Reza and young entrepreneur Golam Kibria while Veterinary Surgeon Dr Abdullahel Kafi moderated the ceremony.

The speakers in their speech underscored the need for flourishing the livestock sector further to meet the local demand of the protein.

In this context, they emphasised on creating more entrepreneurs in the upazila to turn livestock farming into social movement to make the farming popular to the youths, they also said.

Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Sirajul Islam said some 29 stalls have been set up in the exhibition to display the varieties of livestock of the upazila.

People can visit the exhibition during 10 am to 8 pm as the exhibition will continue two days in the capital and five days in the upazila level, he said adding that no entry fee would be allowed to enter the exhibition.
 
In reply to a query, he said free vaccination of animals, distribution of deformers and school feeding programme will be held during the Livestock Services Week.

Similar activities also began in other upazila headquarters of the district marking the Week, said District Livestock Officer Dr Md Mahfuzar Rahman.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Week across the country virtually from Dhaka in the morning as the chief guest.

DAUDKANDI, CUMILLA: Livestock Service Week-2024 began in Daudkandi Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

AL Central Committee Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sabur, MP, from Cumilla-1 Constituency, was present as the chief guest in the programme held at Daudkandi Upazila Parishad auditorium at around 11 am organized by Upazila Animal Resources and Veterinary Hospital.

Daudkandi UNO Muhammad Arafatul Alam presided over the programme where Animal Resources Officer Dr AFM Rokibul Hasan Bhuyan gave a welcome speech.

Upazila AC (Land) Ziaur Rahman, Cumilla North District AL Joint General Secretary (GS) Basudeb Ghosh, Upazila AL President Advocate Ahsan Habib Chowdhury, its GS Engineer Mohiuddin Sikdar, Organizing Secretary SM Keramat Ali, Cumilla North Awami Swechasebak League GS Sumon Sarkar, Cumilla North Sramik League President and Panel Mayor Rakib Uddin, among others, were also also present at the programme.

SREEMANGAL, MOULVIBAZAR: A day-long Livestock Exhibition Fair was held in Sreemangal Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The programme was organized at the Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital premises initiated by Directorate of Livestock in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Project.

Agriculture Minister Abdus Shahid, MP, virtually attended the programme as the chief guest and inaugurated the programme presided over by Sreemangal UNO Abu Taleb.

Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Karn Chandra Mallik gave a welcome speech, where Sreemangal Upazila AL President Ardhendu Kumar Deb Bevul, AC (Land) Sandeep Talukdar, Women Vice-Chairman Mitali Dutta, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Sajjad Hossain Chowdhury, Agriculture Officer Mohiuddin, and Police Inspector (Operation) Tapas Chandra Roy were present as special guests.

After the discussion, the guests visited various stalls at the fair. Then prizes were awarded to the first, second and third place winners among the participants in the Livestock Exhibition Fair.
