Bus involved in death of CUET students had no fitness

The bus belonging to 'Shah Amanat Paribahan' that crashed a motorcycle leaving two Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) students dead had no fitness certificate.

The fitness certificate of the bus expired in February this year.

On Tuesday, Chattogram BRTA Assistant Director Raihana Akter Urthi gave this information in a meeting held at Chattogram Circuit House to control the situation arising from the death of two CUET students in the road accident.

She said the bus responsible for the death of two students was not fit. The fitness period of the bus was expired in February 2024.

Three students of CUET were hit by a bus named Shah Amanat near Selina Quader Chowdhury College on Kaptai Road. Two students were killed. Another student was injured. The motorcycle on which the students were coming also had no license. The two students who were killed were not wearing helmets. Only the injured student was wearing a helmet.
