Man killed, 10 hurt as bus overturns on Madaripur expressway

A 55-year-old man was killed and 10 others were injured as a bus overturned on the Bangabandhu Expressway early Wednesday.

The accident took place around 5.00am on Wednesday at Bondarkhola area under Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district.
The deceased was identified as Golam Rahman Shikder, 55, son of Arshed Ali Shikder, a resident of Kalashkathi area under Bakerganj upazila in Barishal district.

According to witnesses, the accident occurred when the driver of a Kuakata-bound Unique Paribahan bus from Chattogram lost control over the steering and hit the road divider resluting the bus overturned into the highway.

Golam Rahman died on the spot while 10 other passengers of the bus sustained injuries, they said.

Shibchar Highway Police Station sub-inspector Tomal Sarkar confirmed the matter, adding that the injured were admitted to a local hospital and legal action were being taken in this regard.
