Indian 'smuggler' arrested along Kurigram border


An alleged cow smuggler from India has been arrested by the BGB for trespassing near the border in Kurigram's Fulbari upazila.

A case was filed against him at Fulbari Police Station and he was sent to jail on Sunday.
The detained youth, Badal Mia, 28, is a resident of Notakobari village of Cooch Behar.

According to local sources, Badal was roaming in the cattle market in Balurhat Bazar. Some Bangladeshis helped him cross the border illegally, they said.

During questioning, he admitted to being an Indian citizen and confessed to entering Bangladesh through an international pillar near Balatari village of Fulbari border.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Fulbari Police Station, Prankrishna Debnath, said that the Indian detainee has been sent to jail on charges of trespassing.
