A bicycle rider was killed being crushed by a covered van at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district on Thursday.
The accident took place on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway in Saroil area at around 8:00 am.
Deceased Alif Hossain, 35, was son of Sajid Hossain, a resident of Sheikhpur Kumorpur area in the upazila.
Eyewitnesses said a covered van lost control and crushed bicyclist Alif from the opposite direction, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Godagari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Matin.
Meanwhile, the covered van driver was arrested, and legal steps in this regard were under process, the OC added.
