Tigers buoyant to extend lead winning today

The second clash of the five-match T20i series between the hosts Bangladesh Mens Cricket team and visiting Zimbabwe is scheduled to take place today at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Following a convincing victory in the series opener, the hosts are optimistic about extending their lead with another win today.
The match will kick off at 6:00 pm (BST).
Bangladesh is unlikely to make any changes to the winning combination unless they wish to experiment with the bench strength. Tanzid Tamim, who impressed in the series opener by scoring a fifty on debut, is set to open the innings for Bangladesh once again.

Liton Das, who has been struggling for form, might be rested to give Parvez Hossain Emon a chance, if Bangladesh think tank goes otherwise.

Emon, who was Tanzid Tamims opening partner in the under-19 squad, is being considered as a potential third opener in the World Cup squad, which is expected to be announced after this series, especially in the absence of Soumya Sarkar who is currently undergoing rehabilitation after recovering from an injury.

However, skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto is also facing difficulties with the bat, although Tawhid Hridoy displayed his batting prowess in the series starter.

Mahmudullah Riyad and Jaker Ali Anik are established power hitters in the middle order, while Mohammad Saifuddin, who made a successful comeback with the ball, also provides depth to the batting lineup.

Spin-bowling all-rounders Sheikh Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain strengthen Bangladeshs bowling attack and contribute to the batting depth as well.

Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam are expected to feature as specialist seamers, although there might be consideration to try Tanzim Sakib in place of Shoriful Islam.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe struggled against Bangladeshs bowling attack in the previous match, with key players like Sikandar Raza, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams and Ryan Burl departing for ducks.

While some promising performances were shown by Joylord Gumbie, Brian Bennett, Clive Madande and Wellington Masakadza, they were insufficient to trouble Bangladeshs bowlers.

However, Luke Jongwe, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava are ready to make an impact with the ball in the upcoming match.

Similar to the previous game, ZACS is likely to favour seamers in the early stages, with opportunities for batsmen to score runs in the latter part of the match.

The weather forecast predicts heavy rainfall in Chattogram on Sunday. The team winning the toss may opt to bowl first to take advantage of the early conditions.
