Bangladesh receives highest remittance from UAE in April

Bangladeshi migrants sent home 2.04 billion US dollars ($204.30 crores) in remittances in April this year, according Bangladesh Bank (BB) data.

Most of the remittances came from Middle East countries, where the United Arab Emirates UAE) was at the top of the list. Bangladeshi migrants in UAE sent around 382.81 million US dollars during the period.

The list of top 10 countries includes the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.

The second-highest remittance came from the United States in April, which was $331.84 million, according to the Bangladesh Bank data.

In March, the expatriate from the UAE also sent the highest amount of remittances of $364.59 million.

According to the data, in April, the country received remittance of $211.27 million through state-owned banks, $97.23 million through specialised banks, $1.72 billion through private banks, and $6.48 million through foreign banks.
