Life-term convict held in city

Rapid action Battalion (RAB-10) in a drive arrested a fugitive life-term convict from Kamrangirchar in the capital on Thursday evening.

The arrested is identified as Md. Ripon Ali, 38, son of Kasam Ali of Kumarkhali Police Station area in Kushtia District, RAB-10 assistant police superintendent and assistant director (media) M.J. Sohel.
 
He said, acting on a tip off, members of RAB conducted a drive at Ashrafabad area under Kamrangirchar Police Station and arrested him.

Ripon was awarded to life-term imprisonment in a drugs case filed at Kumarkhali Police Station in Kushtia district in 2017. Since a Kushtia court awarded him, he went into hiding and remained missing for seven years.

Legal action has been taken against him, he added.
