A man was killed and his friend sustained injuries after their motorbike collided head-on with a micro-bus on the Bagha-Baneshwar highway in
Rajshahi city early Friday.
The
accident took place around 4.30am at Binodpur Bazaar in the city.
The deceased were identified as Shahid Hossain, 35, son of Mosharaf Hossain, a resident of Durlobhpur village under Patiya upazila, and the injured Jony Hossain, 32, is undergoing treatment at Rajshai Medical College Hospital.
According to locals, the duo was heading towards Charghat on a motorcycle after buying phensidyl through Bagha border. On the way, their bike collided head-on with a microbus coming from opposite direction, leaving Shahid dead on the spot and Jony critically injured.
Bagha Police Station officer-in-charge Ali Mahmud said being informed, police recovered the body from the spot and handed over to the family upon their request.
Police have also seized 25 bottles of phensidyl and a motorcycle from the spot, he said.
An unnatural death case was filed with the police station and legal action will be taken in this regard, added the OC.
