One sentenced to death in Munshiganj murder case

A court in Munshiganj has sentenced a man to death on the charge of killing a man at Sreenagar upazila in in 2012.

Munshiganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 Judge Khaleda Yasmin Urmi handed down the order on Sunday afternoon.
The convict is Shohidul Islam alias Zahurul, a resident of Bagra area in the upazila.

Advocate Sirajul Islam Paltu, public prosecutor of the court, confirmed the matter.

According to the prosecution, Zahurul hacked Arshed Ali to death on June 9, 2012, over previous enmity.

A case was filed by the victim's wife Rahima Bibi against Zahurul with Sreenagar Police Station in this regard.

The court pronounced the verdict after a long 12-year trial following the testimony of nine witnesses.
