At least 11 houses were reduced to ashes in a
fire that broke out at Thanchi upazila in
Bandarban district on Friday morning.
The fire broke out around 10am at Thuisapara area under Tindu union of the upazila.
According to locals, the fire originated from a cooking stove in a house approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Thanchi Sadar and engulfed the nearby homes soon, destroying 11 residences.
Public Relations Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Shariful Islam stated that on information, BGB members rushed thee and worked to control the fire in the remote area.
Additionally, three individuals injured in the fire were given medical treatment from Jinnapara BGB camp, he added.
Bhagya Chandra Tripura, Chairman of No. 2 Tindu Union Parishad, confirmed the incident adding that the fire caused damage estimated at over Tk 12 lakh. and the Union Parishad will provide assistance to the affected families as much as possible.
