Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five members of a robber gang from Jatrabari area in the capital on Sunday while preparing for a robbery.
The arrested men are Maidul Islam, 21, Hanif Sheikh, 29, Arafat Islam Shanto, 22, Mehedi Hasan, 23, and Jamiul Hossain alias Joy, 21.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in North Jatrabari area in the morning and caught them red-handed while they were trying to commit a robbery, said MJ Sohel, assistant director (Media) of RAB-10.
He said two knives, a steel rod, an iron pipe, ropes, and a scarf were seized from their possessions.
