Bandarban, May 19: Three members of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were killed in an exchange of fire with a team of Bangladesh Army in Bandarbans Ruma upazila on Sunday.  Police recovered firearms from the scene.

On secret information, a team of army raided a KNF den in Debachhora forest on Sunday noon. Sensing their presence, KNF members started firing on the army personnel. In retaliation, they also fired back. According to initial reports, the clash took place during an operation conducted by the military in the dense forested area of Ruma, a remote and often volatile part of Bandarban district.
The operation aimed to dismantle KNFs stronghold in the region, which has been a hotspot for insurgent activity.

Sources said a significant cache of arms and ammunition was seized by the army. The exact quantity and types of weapons recovered have not yet been disclosed, but officials indicated that the haul included automatic firearms and other combat equipment, suggesting the KNFs preparedness for prolonged engagements. After hour long gunfight, police recovered two bodies from the scene and one bullet-injured man. Later he also succumbed to his injuries.
