Anwarul Azim MP killed in West Bengal, says police

Anwarul Azim MP has been killed in India's West Bengal, according to Bangladesh police.

A police source involved with the investigation said police arrested two persons in Bangladesh over the incident. The arrested two have recently returned from Kolkata.

One of them is Amanullah.

According to a top police official, "A team of Wari division Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested a person named Amanullah from Keraniganj. In primary quizzing, Amanullah gave some information which was, later, informed to an intelligence agency in India. Then they informed that Anwarul Azim was killed."

IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun informed these to journalist on Wednesday morning, according to Prothom Alo news portal.

Anwarul's personal assistant Abdur Rauf said, "We have learned about the incident through media news, but not officially."
