Obaidul Quader urges BNP not to blame India in MP Anar murder

Criticising BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for blaming India over the killing of Anwarul Azim MP, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, "India is our friendly country. The flat where MP Anwarul Azim was murdered was bought by a Bangladeshi using a different name. Five to six people were involved in the murder. Of them, five were Bangladesh nationals alone."

Addressing BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Quader said: "I request him to not do politics of blame game against India."
Obaidul Quader made the remarks after joining the party's cultural sub-committee's programme at the Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Wednesday.

Responding to Mirza Fakhrul's remarks regarding the murder of Jhenidah-4 constituency's MP Anwarul Azim Anar in Kolkata of West Bengal, Obaidul Quader said  BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed was not murdered after going to friendly country India. "So, I request him (Mirza Fakhrul) to not blame India unnecessarily."

"If India is an enemy-state to you, how Salahuddin Ahmed has been living there safely so many months. None has killed him there. His life security has not been affected. Why are you making such a blame to our friendly country," he asked.

Referring to the sanctions imposed by the United States on former army chief of Bangladesh, Obaidul Quader said the government does not care about the sanctions imposed by the supporters of genocide.

"The government does not have any headache over sanctions of those who have been giving support to genocide and the killing of children in Palestine day after day," he said.

Quader said Israel has so far killed 35,000 innocent Palestinian people indiscriminately, while they are carrying out the killing avoiding the United Nations Security Council's (UNSC) Resolution, which called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

"When the students of the United States (US) staged protest against it, police of that country carried out attack on them. The female students were taken away with ropes tied behind their hands. Human rights are being violated there. They (US) support Israel and Netanyahu. If this is their democracy and human rights, we have no headache with their visa policy or sanctions," he said.

Replying to a question about the US sanction on Bangladesh's former army chief General (retd) Aziz Ahmed, Quader said the army has its own rules and regulations, and Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not the person who will spare anyone if she/he is offenders.

Chaired by AL advisory council member and culture affairs sub-committee chairman Ataur Rahman, the meeting was attended, among others, by former state minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid and actor Ferdous Ahmed, MP.
