Incessant rain inundates Ctg

Most of the low-lying areas in Chattogram have been submerged due to continuous rain since last night under the influence of cyclone Rimal. Roads, alleys, houses have been submerged in knee-to-waist level water. Thousands of people are suffering due to waterlogging. People's lives have come to a standstill.

The raining started in Chattogram after 10 pm on Sunday and waterlogging started forming in different areas. Thousands of people living in low-lying areas in the city spent sleepless nights. The waterlogging has become permanent since Monday morning. Office and school-going people are suffering severely.
The city's Chawkbazar, Muradpur, Bahaddarhat, Badurtala, Shulkabahar, Mohammadpur, Kapasgola, Katalganj, Bakalia, Chandgaon, Agrabad CDA residential area, Chaktai-Khatunganj, Kalarpole, Boropole, Halishahar were waterlogged.

In many areas, water overflowed the roads and entered homes and businesses. On the working day of the commuters faced extreme difficulties due to the widespread flooding.

Pedestrians carefully waded through the water, scared of tripping into drains or over potholes on the submerged roads. Some even took the risk of walking along the road dividers.

The drivers of the few vehicles that were running demanded double the fare.

Ujjal Das, resident of Chawkbazar area, said, "I could not sleep since night for fear of water. When the rain increases, water enters the house in the morning. There was no opportunity to move the contents of the house.''

Imran Hamid Munna, who works at the EPZ, said, ''The road from Chawkbazar to the No-2 Gate area is now waterlogged. In addition, there is bus crisis. It is very difficult to attend the office on time.
