Fire Service worker electrocuted while removing tree

A fire service worker was electrocuted while cutting an uprooted trees on a road in the Alutila area of Khagrachhari on Monday night.

Deceased Russel Hossain, 20, was the son of Abdul Razzak and a resident of Dhaka's Dhamrai.

According to Khagrachhari Fire Service Station Officer Rajesh Barua, several trees fell in different areas of Alutila due to the impact of cyclone Remal. Russel came into contact with a 33,000-volt wire while cutting an uprooted tree around 11pm.

He was immediately taken to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor Rakib Uddin declared him dead.

The power supply in Khagrachhari has been disrupted, and several roads are blocked by fallen trees after storm.
